Volunteering
Overview
Year
2018 - Present
Since childhood, the act of giving has always been a very strong family value. I grew up learning that donating our time and other resources to those who need it most was necessary to build the world we want to experience.
With this, I actively participated in non-profit institutions in Brazil and currently continue to be active as a volunteer in Canada as well.
The experience in NGOs added a lot to me and made me grow not only as a person but also as a professional. Within one of the institutions I was part of in Brazil, I was invited to be a volunteer coordinator and managed a team of more than 15 volunteers who organized monthly events for 100+ children.
In this position, I was also responsible for the governance of the team of coordinators and directors of the NGO, ensuring the alignment of weekly agendas and also the logistics of 5+ annual events that the institution promoted. Taking care of attendance lists, meal times, transportation and also communication with the appropriate people in charge.
Through volunteer work, I have been able to hold many events where we put smiles on children's faces - which has immeasurable value. But, the greatest result of this work is that besides teaching me new skills, it enhances me as a human being.
Amanda is an amazing and inspiring person and professional! Always dedicated, attentive, gentle and helpful. Working with her means a light, wonderful, collaborative partnership, open to giving and receiving ideas and, above all, always willing to teach and learn!

- Registered guests and organized the logistics of program events, recognized as an example of a volunteer on posters advertising the program to new members.
- Wrote an article about volunteering that will be published in the national-level program newsletter in the Spring 2023 edition.
- Participated as the guest speaker in an event sharing my experience as a newcomer to Canada, promoting inspiration and connection that attracted international students to the program.
